We've made some additions and improvements to Notes!

The Notes feature has been added to two action-taking pages:

• You can now add a Note directly on the Add a friend page - handy if you'd like to mark down where you met them or another name you know them by!
• On the Ban and unban users page (under Account -> Privacy) you can now add a Note, including to a group of users all banned at the same time (so that next year you won't need to ask yourself "hey, why did I ban these guys?")

Other changes:

• When you're viewing your existing Notes they're grayed out; click in a field to activate it to change the text (this page can be found from the header by using Profile -> Manage Notes)
• Changes to editing:
  • When you're going to create a new Note but one already exists, you'll get a warning that you're editing an existing Note
  • You can now delete a note from the "Edit note" pop-up in the hover menu
  • You can now delete notes for multiple selected users on the Manage notes page
  • When you change Notes on "Ban|unban users" page, they can be edited and saved with "Save Changes" button

Also, I've decided that Me and My Dick will be added to the (B)romance Fanvid Challenge! So now you can pick any two people from either A Very Potter Musical or Me and My Dick to make a Bromance or Romance fanvid, for a maximum of four videos for the challenge. Get ready to watch Me and My Dick on YouTube tomorrow at 8 pm EST!

As you already know, ABC has canceled Eastwick despite the fact that it has been consistently growing in ratings every week (according to Wikipedia). For those who want to try to convince ABC to bring Eastwick back, @SaveEastwick is running a petition and encouraging people to email ABC.

Eastwick will air again on November 25 and will show its remaining episodes for the season.

@DarrenCriss Sorry all, no Eastwick tonight! Hope you're country music fans! As of now, Eastwick will resume the 25th of November and go until the end :(

I am crossposting this here because we'd love additional feedback from the Harry Potter community regarding our organizational patterns and because we thought that people might find the patterns themselves interesting in terms of what they say about how people inside and outside the fandom conceptualize the community.



During the past few days, we’ve been working on trying to visualize our organizational patterns on Fan History in order to understand our own patterns, how we conceptualize fandom, to check for organizational consistency, create tools to help users understand our organizational patterns, to identify areas where we lack stub content. This one is about Harry Potter.

Our character and pairing structure was taken apart at one point, with articles removed from them. There is the whole question of if we should restore that and put the articles back into the subcategories and restore that. Some like Draco/Hermione have a lot of content that could go in them including stories around the ship, etc. Having that structure existing just makes it easier to navigate and conceptualize in my opinion. If you specifically find that Snape/Harry LiveJournal community, than it helps to have that sorted if we don't have an article list of Snape/Harry LiveJournal communities.

The Harry Potter fandom also seems to be structured around pairings, characters and houses. The community doesn't necessarily have the emphasis on a coherent community identity. Thus, it seems logical to me to structure the fandom more around these articles and rebuild them that way as a history of the fandom would be much more accurate if told from that perspective.

It looks like Eastwick has been officially canceled. It's really too bad, I was starting to enjoy it. Seeing Darren every week was also a plus.

I have been trying to find the time to streamline and customize the community, which has been rather difficult lately. Just so you know what's in the works:

• Shiny new header - it's currently being worked on by someone who also has been trying to find time; no rush, I'm confident it'll be amazing when finished


• Updated layout - to match the shiny header when it's done


• List of tags in the sidebar (finally!) - this should be finished this weekend, I promise


• Community icon - kind of silly, but I've been meaning to make one for a long time; also should be done this weekend

And while I'm here, the (B)romance Fanvid Challenge. Links to download the musical are in this comment to make it easier for people wanting to make fanvids. However, the videos currently on YouTube are of higher quality.

Hey I don't know if this has already been posted but if it has I apologise.

Eastwick has its UK Premiere on November 24th at 9pm on Hallmark (sky channel 130), according to the website theres 3 episodes on, I don't know if thats definate though.

I'm assuming everyone in this community has read HP like 4 or 5 times at least, like I have, lol. So, I have a question. In Order of the Phoenix, when Dumbledore and Voldemort are dueling, I remember Dumbledore casting a spell so strong Voldemort had to protect himself with something (can't remember what it was) and when the spell hit the object it made a weird sound. Does anyone know what this spell was? I've been looking for info on that but I've never found anything ):

I stink at coming up with titles.

I didn't go to sleep until 4am, stupid move. A result of my stupid decision was that I accidentally slept through PEP. I really was interested in the preceptor panel too. :( We find out summer hospital rotation zones today, and I'm kind of nervous. I have an apartment in Chapel Hill, and I would like to stay in Chapel Hill. Ugh. I don't want to have to drive an hour every day to my site.

Also, I get to drive 5 hours today, that isn't too bad, but I just don't want to! I want to sleep! At least I can finish on the way, thanks to my newly downloaded audio book!
